Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy means application of ultrasonic energy for healing. In ultrasonic therapy the property of piezoelectric crystals that vibrate when you join a source of electric current is used. Vibration is in the rhythm of the frequency of the connected current and commonly two frequencies are used: 1 MHz and 3MHz (Hertz is the unit of frequency and a number of vibrations per second. MHz = one million hertz per second.).

For this reason, ultrasound has the ability to act in depth, which can increase the tissue temperature in depth of 3-5 cm, without having to heat the skin or subcutaneous tissue. Treatment with ultrasound has: mechanical, thermal (ultrasound-diathermy) and physio-chemical action.

Mechanical, ultrasound works with micro tissue massage which then improves the exchange of cell content, increased blood excess in vessels and oxygen supply.

Thermal (warm) the influence of ultrasound, consisting in increasing the enforceability of cell membranes. In fact, this effect increases the tensile collagen tissue, causes changes in the speed of conduction of nerve, changes in blood circulation, increases the threshold of pain and has a sedative effect on inflamed muscles.

Ultrasound therapy causes vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), improves trophic tissue, hyperemia (increased blood excess in vessels), better absorption of decomposed materials of chemical processes in the tissue. It affects the biosynthesis of proteins as an important part of the immune system.
